Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru have issued a joint recall affecting over 1 million vehicles from model years 2022–2026 due to a software defect in the rear-view camera system. The issue can cause the backup or panoramic view camera display to freeze, go blank, or fail to show the rear image when reversing, violating federal safety standards. Affected vehicles include popular Toyota models like the Camry, RAV4, and Highlander; Lexus models such as the RX and ES; and Subaru’s Solterra. Dealers will provide a free software update to fix the issue. Owners are advised to check their VINs on NHTSA’s recall site and exercise caution while reversing until repairs are complete.
