Dying Light: The Beast is an upcoming standalone zombie action RPG from Techland, serving as a spin-off from the Dying Light series. Initially planned as DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, it evolved into a fully-fledged game due to its expanding scope. The game revisits the protagonist Kyle Crane, who was subjected to experiments for over a decade after the events of the first game. The story explores his escape, revenge, and the use of newfound abilities as he navigates a rural setting called Castor Rock, 13 years after the original game and before Dying Light 2.
The gameplay emphasizes survival elements with limited resources, weapon durability, and vehicle damage. It introduces a skill tree allowing Crane to use enhanced abilities like higher jumps and faster running. The game also retains fan-favorite mechanics such as the parkour system, the day-night cycle, and four-player co-op.
A key narrative focus is filling gaps left by Dying Light 2, presenting a compact yet impactful experience described as “a double espresso” in terms of intensity. The main story is expected to take around 10 hours to complete, with additional content and secrets to explore. It is projected to release in the first half of 2025 and will be free for owners of the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition.
